Quck Graphics Card Question

I have an R9 290X

considering upgrading due to noise when I run anything on max!

All games are run on my 40"TV - full pc spec in sig

so my options are:

1:sell old card upgrade to new card have 200 quid saved already... selling this will take total to about 300

2:buy cooling for card (but not sure what or where to buy?) and then fit it myself...never done that before.

3:buy new case to improve cooling... this may be the answer - but there are so many options... what would I be looking for?

I have a R9 290 and I bought as Artic Cooler for it because it was really starting to annoy me with the loudness of it!

 

It has made a difference and wasn't so bad to do, was my first time! I bought a triple fan one and followed some guide online.

 

If you already have a custom cooler on it through (as it not a stock one from AMD) then it will liekly make little difference.

where did you get your cooler from, was it worth the upgrade? how long did it take? - sorry for questions - but horizons is out REAL soon and I need to get some serious flying time in

I can't rmemeber where I got it from but I got this, I think all the bits cost me about £45:

You need some cleaner etc to take the old gunk off the chip too.

 

Took me between an hour and 2 hours, I can't fully remember, I did it after work one day, still had some tea and managed to test it for a little bit. It has definitely made a difference, the card runs massively cooler, 3 hours or so into Bioshock and the card will be at abotu 60 degrees, as oppose to the good old 80 degrees and the fans are definitely quieter. There is a watercooled version you can do as well, which might make it even quiter, I have a big case so the case temperature is never to high.
