Does anyone know where I can get a second-hand or very competitively priced motherboard for a Toshiba Sat Pro C850 173?

I've looked around all my usual places and the best I can come up with is eBay.

I've found plenty way more expensive - it seems the going rate from most of the parts suppliers is about £200/€250

Yeah - the issue is whether or not that is really the fault. I think it is - screwed video output,(pretty lines) nothing on an external monitor - but who knows

Hmmm... Have you checked the seating of the video cable on the motherboard and on the back of the panel? Can you try an lcd panel from another machine? The panels are about £40 and the ribbon cables about a fiver - lets hope it's one of them!

Have you checked the LVDS ribbon is properly connected and undamaged?

Take it upstairs and try it at altitude, but be careful as you might drop it and have to call the insurance company.
