matt40k Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 LA and Capita get reports out of Schools Manager (solus2) and Solus3. Bit hard to manage schools if you dont know what version they are on, unmanaged school still get a naggy call, just cause its normally required for census, the bonus for the LA is you dont get any surprise calls on census day when they say the menu option hasn't "magically" appeared. Never known folks not to use SOLUS to upgrade, its lot of effort for no real benefit not to use it. Even if you do upgrade manually, running SOLUS2 manually will update the report with you having completed it. Not sure why you feel schools would need to opt-in @vikpaw, its been happening for years and years and years, plus at the end of the day, who cares? Does it matter? Nope, even if you didnt upgrade all that happens is - they tell you to upgrade - the horror! Wont someone think of the children!!
matt40k Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 @localzuk - it was a number I was given last week. Things do move quickly. I think we put people off by suggesting that the DfE Return should be completed first. More likely no-one trusts Capita to get it right first time in regards to releases - @CAM said the ui jumpy thing is back. If you had distribution rings like microsoft, you'd have to offer danger money for those in the bleeding edge
Steve21 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 The upgrade was all done here (Solus 2) as SLT wanted to use the new Life Without Levels stuff. No issues so far *touch wood* Steve
vikpaw Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Wasn't sure about the mechanism of tracking. I only mention opt-in because if it wasn't happening, depending on how the tracking is done the school would need to give permission. If they track a download, that's easy and fine. If the server is reporting info back, or worse still data is being pulled out - I wouldn't be happy about it, without my consent. It has happened to me which is why I mention it.
Bubbles Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Is anyone aware which Windows Update upgrades the VBE7.DLL file to 7.1.10.49? We have the assessment issue and the DLL is on version 7.1.10.42 and every available Windows update has been installed!

vikpaw Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3101352 Try re-running all Office updates manually including optional ones. It's not automatically going to do them if you do Windows Update. EDIT: pipped 1
Bubbles Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Thank you. The update appears to be for Office 2016 but we're on 2013.

safcgac Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I need help. Our SOLUS isn't working properly and I need to install the new update. I can remember the same thing happened in the summer and I managed to download the update and extract it to a file so I can run the SIMS Application pack and AMPARK, but I can't remember how to do it for the life of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
pete Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 ^ Download the .iso files from MyAccount and unpack the contents using 7-zip or similar.
safcgac Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Cheers Pete. I figured it out. For some reason the extract command wasn't working yesterday on SOLUS, but it is now.
dapaulio Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 iv just installed the fms version today via solus 3. all went fine. doing sims tomorrow. wish me luck
bossman Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 @safcgac Reason your Solus was not working as expected then decided to work the following day: Capita update services were experiencing problems and your Solus deployment requires authorisation from these services in case an update is withdrawn, happened to me and then worked last night. Simple reason but very frustrating all the same! All is good now
SHimmer45 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 There is a post on the notifications on My Account would or does this affect office 2010 users going to be running the upgrade today, i know it posted about office 2013 VBE7.DLL version for us is 7.0.16.28
DavidLong Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 would or does this affect office 2010 users going to be running the upgrade today, i know it posted about office 2013 VBE7.DLL version for us is 7.0.16.28 My guess would be yes, the knowledge base entry on my account doesn't state a edition of office just if the .dll is prior to the 7.1.10.49 1
SHimmer45 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 being in contact with capita this morning and based on their advice have canned the upgrade tonight. run all the updates for office 2010 and it still doesnt change the DLL to anything near the required version ive asked for an ETA on them fixing this so be interesting on what they say.
SHimmer45 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Well i have had a response and there isnt a fix according to the person i have been in contact with and have advised against carrying out he upgrade, but then said we could "try" and see what happens. not really the response i was after especially as the school is so dependent on it for so many things a little disappointed really.

If you where using office 2013 then their is a hotfix from Microsoft to upgrade the vbe7.dll you could always look and see if their is one available that works with office 2010 to update the file.
SHimmer45 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 been looking for one this afternoon and i havent found anything as yet only list for office 2013/2016
