So I am setting up a 365 site to test with a view to migrating from GAFE.

So to the silly bit...

I have verified the domain but the site is still in trial mode. I read somewhere that if you have verified the domain, when the trial runs out you can continue to use it for free. However, there are loads of education options in the 'purchase services' page that are £0.00/month. Can I add these and cancel the trial or should I wait.

Thanks in advance. :)

We added the £0.0 bits we wanted straight away

Thanks, I'll do that.

Guess I'm so Googlified I expected it to convert over as soon as edu status was confirmed as per GAFE.

I actually logged a call and got a call straight back from MS to tell us to the very thing you just said (can't imagine Google doing that!) Very impressed with 365 so far :)

We've always been quite impressed with their support as well... I think we had to wait a day once due to time zone differences but that was the only time in about a dozen support requests.

I've got two great MS support people - one for each school - who are just brilliant!

GAfE support has been good so far too although the setting up has been a complete pain

so far 365 does seem more simple to setup than GAFE. Also the UI for GAFE admin has got worse and worse, 365 is dead simple.

And don't get me started on GADS or GAPS...

O365 is about to get a new admin portal though - haven't made up my mind about that new portal yet!

my main gripe is they keep redesigning it so it requires more thought to use than it should

This is one of my gripes with GAFE. When I first setup it was so easy to use, after a couple of redesigns it seems to be so much harder to find the (simple) things that you need to do.

mine was when adding users you just had to add them at the root then move them to groups you couldn't batch add into a group like say yoe2012. Though granted office 365 can be a similar pita with assigning licenses
