jakebon Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Hi, We have been struggling with a problem accessing the google search page using Internet Explorer within our school network for a while now. The computers affected are Windows 7 SP1 x64 running IE 11. Users who are affected cannot load the main google search page correctly, as a large white box blocks the screen, and never disappears. Here is a screenshot of the problem. We’ve tried the usual fixes, such as deleting all browser history, running IE without add-ins and in compatibility mode. None of these have helped. Roaming profiles are used, and once a user has the problem, they have the problem on other computers as well. We have installed Google Chrome on affected computers, and the google search page loads correctly. We can only use this as a test, and not roll out Chrome, as most of our systems require Internet Explorer to function. It seems like an incorrect setting in Internet Explorer, but we can’t find any settings in IE that make an impact. Has anyone had this issue before, and (hopefully!) found a fix for it? Failing that, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Jake

bossman Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 @jakebon Its the Google data security acceptance form, you just have to allow the actual page through in Smoothwall or your firewall etc It just allows the end user to accept and then they can access Google search pages
jakebon Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Thank you for the responses. I had tried document mode emulation in IE, but not compatibility mode. I've set up a GPO to add google to the compatibility view list. Thanks for that baldpig. Chazzy2501, I believe SPDY is only an option with Windows 8 onwards. Bossman, I will look at allowing the acceptance form through our firewall, but the pressure is off for now, as users can access google once they have logged out/in. I had assumed that it wouldn't be a firewall issue, as it only affects certain users, and it will work with Chrome for them.
bossman Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 @jakebon This is the address but you may have to enter it into your https no inspect policy if you have decrypt and inspect turned on https://consent.google.com Have fun
