SOLUS 3 Port openings

Hi all

 

I'm starting to get slightly confused about the port requirements. The SIMS's guide says that specific ports need opening on all the devices that will be using SOLUS 3 for upgrades. My understanding is that the ports need opening on workstations and Laptops if they have firewalls on between them and the SIMS Server which will be hosting SOLUS 3. Is this correct please?? Do any of the Ports that are listed need opening over the Internet, ie through LGFL?

 

Need to reassurance that port openings are just required through local school firewalls!

They are referring to internal ports on your workstations. We have Windows Firewall enabled across our network here, and the SOLUS 3 stuff has exceptions for its needs distributed via Group Policy to all the machines.

 

There isn't a need to open ports to the internet that I know of.
