3s-gtech Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 You went from Exchange to Zimbra? Fair play, when we moved to Exchange two years ago there was no contest at all. Exchange is a bit overkill for personal stuff perhaps.

Exchange was doing fine but couldn't ever get Outlook to work with ActiveSync so that was annoying, I remember using Zimbra back in the old Novell days so this brings back some nostalgic memories. I'm using the Free version of Zimbra and all seems well in the world. I am using Zimbra Desktop too
matt40k Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) Couldn't be bothered with email, too much hassle dealing with spam etc. I actually switched the missus off my Office 365 tenant onto Rackspace Email because her phone had problems with ActiveSync. For £1 odd a month it ain't worth the hassle!! Especially when they have a 24/7 free phone support number. Still can't really comment, I write hundreds of lines of code just so I don't have to do 5 mins of manual work Edited November 11, 2015 by matt40k
cpjitservices Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Cant see there being much hassle, there's some good spam protection in Zimbra... will see how it goes. Got my server replicated off site so if it goes down my other one will kick in.
bossman Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 @cpjitservices We've been using it here at the school for the past 8 years and it is solid as a rock, running 1400 accounts atm, we are looking towards moving to G-Mail and GAFE with Google classroom, as my role has changed at the school I can no longer build infrastructure or Servers (JRE) so we are moving stuff into the cloud and some services back to the LA to manage. All goes well with it though on a positive note!! Laaaahhhhhhh!!!! hehe! Hope all is well with you good buddy 1

Hope all is well with you good buddy @bossman which version you using ??, Sounds like good fun, yeah im not too bad.. bit stressed as I'm in the middle of moving house.!! Been meaning to visit Zimbra for a while, especially when my Exchange 2010 install would sometimes take offence to mounting the mail database. Thought now as a good time, migration went well. Yeah kids are fine... me and the wife very stressed lol. Im using the free version of Zimbra.. seems good at the moment.

Lol, @matt40k - yeah I do enjoy messing around with things!!, and regarding old landlord.. After a tirade of abusive emails I can honestly say Ive had enough for one year roll on 2016. @bossman... It wiped the floor with Exchange in many ways although better AD integration on modern systems would have been nice. Plus where Exchange needed something beefy for a lot of users, Zimbra could handle exactly the same on a celeron processor and a couple of gig of ram! We often miss some parts of it now we're 365. 2
