robknowles Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Hello, I'm wondering whether anybody knows where Internet Explorer keeps the list of URL's that are saved in the address bar. We've had an issue with a couple of staff where they have been using this to access their 'Favourite sites' - rather than saving them in their Favourites and with a profile reset it's deleted them. Hopefully I can find the data files and then copy them across. Thanks, Rob
imullings Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 It is in their user.dat file in there profile. You could be lucky and find the old one on a workstation they loged onto before the reset but not after. Ian Mullings
ZeroHour Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Well its in the registry (which is what there user.dat is). If you mount the dat file in regedit you will be able to search for one of the urls and find the location. In regedit go file->Load hive NOTE: You lock the file when you load the hive so remember the unload the hive when you are done. Cheers
Joanne Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 if you have roaming profiles, it might have been in the temp internet folder in my settings... maybe? Normally stuff in there are URLs that have been typed in previously, so they must know what they are?
kennysarmy Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 There is a tool called "UrlSearch" that can extract URL's from files. http://www.sofotex.com/UrlSearch-download_L12336.html Might be of some use...
