Decimas6 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Hi, We currently have an issue with a few of our 8.1 machines having a black background and different colour text in Windows explorer (folders etc.) that you can see in the image attached. It only happens to the student accounts on those machines, non of the admin and not on other machines. I can't tell whether it is user caused or something else, but does anyone have any ideas how to revert it? The machines are not in High contrast mode, and while I can replicate it using regedit on an admin account, the student accounts don't have access to anything, not that I have been able to access at least. Thanks.
Chrish5 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 If it's any consolation I'm facing a similar problem on Windows 7. It stems from I think students turning High Contrast mode on, but when you come to turn it off some of the settings remain, leaving white text on a white background isn't very useful though. Haven't found an easy way of fixing it yet either so I've come here looking for help/suggestions.
Arreks Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 sfc /scannow will probably help, or system restore as above. If all else fails get a fresh copy of explorerframe.dll and replace.
Decimas6 Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Thanks for the suggestions, I will try sfc /scannow, but it is easier for us to just install than it is to restore.
