Arreks Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Got an email saying the search tool had finally been updated! Too good to be true, surely?! So I instantly downloaded it and installed as per instructions on a Win7 machine.. yeah.. nope. Crashes instantly.. sigh. At least the old version opened. This is with .NET 4.5 installed etc.. anyone using the new version and got it working?
localzuk Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Just downloaded it and it worked straight away. Still an ugly, terrible bit of software but it works.
bossman Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I think its overkill for what it does, each computer has to have the license manager installed before you can open any of the software, why don't they just put it online!! Such a PITA for something which could be web based Poor software in my eyes!!
Arreks Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 I'd love to decompile it and just make a better version but alas, I don't think they'd be too happy. Weird how it's working fine for you @localzuk, I take it you're on a standard win 7 machine? must be some dependency I'm missing..
localzuk Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Ah, I tried it on my Windows 10 machine. Give me a minute and I'll try on a Windows 7 64bit machine. EDIT: Works fine on our standard build Windows 7 machine too.
3s-gtech Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 You poor, poor souls. I managed to reject it and sent it back, after they couldn't understand that we didn't use Adobe Reader. My stress levels receded somewhat when they bought something else instead. Doesn't surprise me that it doesn't work on 10. To the OP - is this as a local admin?
6Foot2 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 We have it working here also. O/S: Windows 7 Pro: 64 Bit.
Arreks Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 Thanks for testing everyone.. I'm trying it on: Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 10 32-bit. Very weird how the old version worked though, all I did was overwrite with the new exe.
Arreks Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 Fixed it! we had old worksheets, downloaded newer ones and it works.
