Papercut - Illegal Media Size Error

Hello All,

 

I am having issues with users releasing A3 jobs from an A4 printer. This results in printing out PCL XL Warning IllegalMediaSize errors until the job is cancelled. Had one staff member feed an entire box of paper before calling me!

 

We are running Papercut MF using virtual queues, one for B/W and one for colour. I have tried setting "Only allow the following paper sizes" to A4 on an A4 printer but A3 jobs still release and cause the error.

 

Does anyone have a solution for this please?

We had all sorts of issues with Follow Me queues as we had printers with different abilities all in it. We eventually had to come away from the Follow You stuff and just have a queue for each printer sadly. The amount of complaints I had from people releasing colour print jobs on a black and white printer was amazing. If there is a solution, then great and I'm all ears!

I'm hoping a queue per paper size is not the only option!

Not a queue per paper size, but a queue per printer. Then when they choose an A4 printer, they won't get the option to print A3.

The follow me queue should the specification of your highest machine that is on the follow me. If you have a mix of machines on follow me i.e. Sharp, Toshiba, Ricoh you will need a follow me per manufacturer. There should be no issues if setup like that you can then login and release jobs at each machine. You could if you have a mixed estate use the PaperCut universal driver but then various finishing options specific to that machine will not be available.
