bodminman Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Morning all, My lappy is running W10 and the wife's lappy is running W8 and up until about last Friday we could browse the web at home without issues. However, my wife still browses without issue but my lappy has gone crappy! If I run both the BT Wholesale and Speedtest.net tests both return 18mb down with a ping latency of over 350ms. On the wife's machine the download is about the same but the ping is always much lower. What I'm experiencing is very slow webpage loading. If I open a browser and type Google and hit enter, this takes 12 seconds to load! Anyone got any ideas? Cheers
difinity Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Has Windows 10 "helpfully" loaded some new drivers for you ? 1
bodminman Posted October 27, 2015 Author Posted October 27, 2015 God knows. I am now going through each device and manually updating the drivers just in case. I'd also say that W10 is more sluggish than it has been too. The laptop is no slouch with an i7 cpu, 8gb ram and a ssd and looking at task manager it's not breaking any sort of sweat at all. It's just become niggly but you really notice it when browsing the web. I have tried it going via the Ethernet cable and that didn't make and difference to the browsing. I'm stumped!
cpjitservices Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Seems like a driver issue, What Wireless card have you got ? I'd try manufacturers site see if they have an updated one... or try installing one for Win 8.1 1

Worth a punt shoving chrome on there and see how that pans out. Might be some malware in there and I would think about installing a malware scanner to give it a clean. Have the issue with Edge, IE, Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Have also run Malwarebytes and where as this usually completes it's scan with 15 mins, it now takes over 45 mins and never finds anything.
Michael Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Easy thing to try - if in doubt, tether to your phone, but I agree with others it does sound driverish to me. 1
elsiegee40 Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 You have done malware checks, haven't you? MBAM etc 1
bodminman Posted October 27, 2015 Author Posted October 27, 2015 First thing I done was AV and Malware checks and both return 0 issues. I used Avast and Trend Micro Housecall and MBAM and Spybot. I am now doing a system restore to 10-10-15 so we shall see how that goes. Fingers crossed!!! 1
bodminman Posted October 27, 2015 Author Posted October 27, 2015 System Restore seems to have sorted the issue out. So now I'll have to keep an eye out on the updates etc and see which one breaks it again! 1
