sted Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 but isnt your thumbprint on the reader from the last time you used it probably usable and depending on the parameters it use push something like a warm jelly baby against it so it reacts roughly the same as your finger and represses the existing print

That doesn't mean that it's not possible, but it's still more effort than the average thief needs to applying.

Why a disembodied finger can't be used to unlock the Touch ID sensor on the iPhone 5s- you need living tissue - sorry to anyone near you that wasn't quick enough to escape your science

CAM Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 They mention in the article that you'd lack the capacitive charge to trigger the sensor and the radio frequencies are poorly picked up by dead tissue.
