Dingledigger Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Have been struggling foe weeks now to get Essex Target Tracker to connect successfully within the school. Staff laptops when at home will connect but will not connect either on wired or wi-fi connection whilst in school. The TT connection test works fine and have updated to the latest version of TT (currently 15.3). The school classroom computers originally would connect to the TT server but now it is intermittent that they may or may not connect. Anyone have a similar problem or a resolution to the problems that I am encountering? The message I am getting is as per the screenshot attached: As you can see connection is partially successful as the TT notifications are displayed but cannot connect to the data server/ Hoping someone may have some words of wisdom Thank you. Jeff
FN-GM Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Try the connection test on this page - Downloads I bet port TCP 1433 is blocked on the firewall. 1
Dingledigger Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 The school network passes the TT connectivity test - so not port 1443. Oh if it were that simple Thank you for the thought.
matt40k Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I bet port TCP 1433 is blocked on the firewall. Yer, looks like your have to contact your LA\ISP and ask for it to be unblocked. Believe the database backend is an Azure db.
Dingledigger Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 No port 143 not blocked - just updated one classroom computer with latest TT update and it still connects OK to TT.
mats Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I'm still loving having to install a client program for a cloud based thing. Web interface? Nah, far too complex a job.
matt40k Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Well "Forcibly closed by the remote host" is firewall. It could they have too many connections and its randomly picked on the machine. It could be its flicking between the wifi and the wired connection and it doesn't like that, it could be the firewall rule you have - only certain IPs are allowed. Could try pinging your router from the machine, see if you get any packet loss - if you do, you know you've got a faulty port \ wifi point. @mats - yup, stupid. I guess it was a case of they had someone who could write desktop apps, but not a web app. Shame. Least the data in cloud based, still really sucks they are exposing their database tier the world

mowgli82 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 A while ago Azure changed all of Target trackers IP's, we had to log a call to get the firewall rules updated. I think a couple of the IP's stayed the same as it would randomly connect.
