Hi

We use Papercut Successfully at school and have a secondary server set up on an OSX server so that our pupils and staff can print from their iPads, the problem is that despite the energy setting being set to never let the hard drives go to sleep and the sharing setting set to 'wake on LAN' it still keeps going offline and not broadcasting across to the iPads.

any ideas please?

Hi we are using built in printing on the iPad (which is airprint) that prints to a virtual queue on an OSX server, which in turn is controlled by Papercut on our Primary server

Can you clarify what is going offline and not broadcasting, is it the server?

When you can see the queue on your iPad is it as it was named on the OSX server or what the actual printer device is broadcasting.

Hi

I have a queue named 'iPad Printing' that sits on an OSX server (this is a virtual queue for papercut and prints to whichever copier the person releases it from).

when on the ipad this queue should be visible on the list of available printers in the print dialogue, it is visible for a short while then goes missing!

Hi

Not sure but I'm asking the question!

I have been testing and it seems that the queue is visible for about 20 mins then goes!

Cheers

We have enabled Wifi on one of our mac servers and installed Printopia to host a shared printer to our wireless network. Our printers require authentication so a user puts in there AD details to print and the prints come off their quota. Great for 1:1 iPads, but not for shared as the username and password then gets saved on the iPad.

You need to host printing over your wireless VLANS as your iPads won't be able to see the wired range.

Also, on our desktop Macs. We had to add users to the print admin group and then make a script / program to clear and printer pauses / jams. clicking this app clears the printer and allows a user to "resume" printing.

If anyone wants the script let me know.
