sjb Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 We have recently installed new classroom computers running Windows 10 and all but one of them have Smart Notebook 11.4 installed and working without any problems. The other machine will run the installer and gets to 'Publishing program information' then starts rolling back and uninstalls itself and displays an error message saying 'error 1603'. I have tried using the Smart uninstaller to remove all traces of previous installations and cleaned all left-over Smart keys from the registry using regedit, but still the same thing happens. I am logged on with the administrator account and am able to install other software on the machine so there shouldn't be an issue with permissions. Any advice on how to fix this would be very gratefully received. Thanks Sue
localzuk Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Are there any errors in the Event Log? Have you looked at the msi install log? There's some stuff here about it - How to locate the cause of error code 1603 in a verbose MSI log file - Aaron Stebner's WebLog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs
TwistedHelixis Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Don't suppose you remember how you fixed this do you? Installed fine on other laptops but this one is causing me loads of xxxxx
sjb Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Only by cloning the hard drive from another classroom computer. Couldn't get anything else to work I'm afraid.
TwistedHelixis Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Just worked it out. Windows 10 needs this one update installed first or it will role back the SmartNotebook install - KB3105210
