Mr_Jiminy Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Has anyone any experience with use Xirrus XR-620 APs? Mixed/ dense wireless deployment; 100+ Windows 7 laptops, 40 iPad's.
Oaktech Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I used some of the 520s to create an infrastructure in a residential building the school bought. I had 5 APs and 40 users and they fell over all the time when people streamed or tried to do online gaming. I wasn't impressed with them. The 600's read up as being much better but I'd ask for a trial before committing to them.. 1
Markopolo Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 We have just finished a deployment with over 40 of these APs. We have had some issues with auto channelling and the 2.4GHz radios, however a manual channel/power setup and firmware updates seems to have cured it. My advice would be to get a trial in. 1
bossman Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 @Mr_Jiminy Have a look at either Aerohive APs or Meraki they seem to be the market leaders and I have had no problems for well over 3 years, a company called LAN3 did our heat survey, planned, installed and configured the devices around the school in 2 days and we haven't had to touch them since apart from updating the software from time to time. Can highly recommend 1
never-ending-troubles Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I've deployed Xirrus in 3 schools and had no problem with them both the xr520's and xr620's, and from a price prospective much cheaper than other vendors try Vitalize Consultancy ~ IT Infrastructure Solutions 1
