Start Menu items only appearing for initial creator

Hi there,

 

This was alluded to in another post, I wondered if anyone found a solution.

 

1. I install Windows 10, join the domain, install Office 2013.

2. I logon as test user, but the Office 2013 items that should be in the start menu are missing.

 

Thanks if you can shed any light on this for me.

Are you using GPO or scrips for the redirection?

by start menu do you mean the all items or "pinned tiles"?

I mean everything, how do you redirect your your users to to the correct start menu so all the short cuts are available from Start > All Programs or Start > All Apps on Win 10

as far as im aware its exacrtly the same as windows 7+ you use folder redirection to point the start menu at a common location so for example \\school.interna\dfs\start_menu\staff and in that folder you have a programs folder full of shortcuts

so with windows 10 there is a problem like windows 8.1, I had the same issue but with mapped drives.

what you need to do is this as most likely not all of your GPO's are not going through.

 

on the machine itself you need to:

 

1 - launch gpedit.msc

2 - Local Computer Policy --> Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Network --> Network Provider --> Hardened UNC Paths

 

 

copy this image and then here are the things you need to paste in:

 

\\*\NETLOGON

 

 

\\*\SYSVOL

 

 

RequireMutualAuthentication=0, RequireIntegrity=0

 

 

Save the information and then restart the PC

 

let me know if anything has changed and everything will hopefully redirect correctly
