With office 365 you need

1. active directory

2. web application proxy

3. adfs

4. dir sync

Which of these have you got replication for?

Should we have a redundant server in the azure cloud for adfs?

ADFS Farm stretched across a shared VLAN between 2 data centres

ADFS proxy also stretched across the same VLAN

Backend SQL cluster on it's own dedicated stretched VLAN

Internal Load balancer at each DC

External Load balancer checking service status

1 Dir Sync server (don't see that as critical, is a VM that gets backed up.).

Ummm, not great practice but we only have replication for the active directory side of things :-/ Just one of each of the rest. However ADFS is on a VM which is backed up

Exactly the same as mine then! I think adfs is supposed to be replicated to an azure server for serious redundancy, or onsite for just regular replication. The other 2 are ok as singles (or clustered for big networks).
