Microsoft Virtual Academy can be an excellent free training and resource guide for learning about the new technologies, as can trial editions of the server softwares if you want to quickly learn about technology on the fly.

 

Just to add to this, I also recommend using some of the free Microsoft Virtual Labs which let you have a go with technologies you don't have the hardware to support.
