Does anyone know what on earth this is??

It turns out we've had this `thing' for a long time but it has never been used - it appears to be a series of plastic mats made up of brightly coloured squares and shapes... there are some PS2 type connectors which go into a box, and there is a lead coming from the box which has some kind of serial connection on the end!

 

It bears a logo which says `matgames.com' but that website is up for sale, so I've not been able to glean any information about this device at all. If anyone can give me a clue I would appreciate it! I've attached some photos in case it jogs anyone's memory

Found one of those in the server room/general dump cupboard of one of my primaries a while ago. Just assumed it was some standy stampy stompy controller type thing and skipped it!
