DB91 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Hi I wish to add the "Filename" field and remove "Name" from the File Explorer - and for Filename to be in the location where Name was previously Has anyone done this before? Is this possible through Group Policy as a regedit? We want to add it because we give teachers access to all the pupils home folders, but majority are just displaying as "My Documents" instead of their username, Filename displays their username which is what we ideally want Thanks for any information anyone has Dan
mrwoberts Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) Hi Dan This doesn't exactly answer your question, but I remember one workaround for this was to delete the 'desktop.ini' file within each folder that displays 'My Documents'. It then displays the real name instead. I also think it is possible, rather than deleting it, to update it to reflect the true name of each folder. Still, it may be of help to you. 3s-gtech Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I'm pretty sure that you can't hide the Name column (it's greyed out in Explorer for me). Not sure if you can add the Filename field - should be more plausible though you may have to scan the registry for the change then roll it out with GPP. 1
