We currently install profiles onto our ipad 2's via apple configurator then deploy apps and restrictions via lightspeed which has always worked very well until the recent release of ios 9.0.1,

one of our classes decided to update 32 of the ipads and since then when you click on an app it opens then immediately closes again.

The only apps that appear to work are the ones supplied with ios, I have narrowed it down to the ios version as we also have 15 of the same ipad still on ios 8 and they work fine,

I have tried wiping them and re-configuring them with apples configurator and lightspeed but still the same conclusion.

Really stuck now as we have 32 ipads that are only of use with pre-installed apps, has anyone else come across this problem or am i unique :-)

The issue we have is the little darlings accepting the update for themselves or even better iOS9.01 seems to have an option to select for the update to be installed automatically next time the iPad is on charge. This has lead to random issues across our iPad carts - a couple of bricked iPads, some locked out completely by putting a passcode in loads of times, etc, etc.

Those that have updated and I've managed to sort are working fine with Configurator and Meraki and we have no app issues.

The new changes are great. I've been working with several schools to implement them though as they are rather different. One school opted to erase all the devices then upgrade. They enrolled automatically back through DEP. They had been using a different management system and there was something leftover that was conflicting.

Those 32 ipads probably just need a reset and you should be able to push new apps to them. VPP can now go without even having an Apple ID on the device.

Block the update URL should sort that.

I've got a couple of iPad's update to iOS 9 and haven't seen the issue you've found.
