mrwoberts Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Ok, so I upgraded a school to Solus 3 on Friday (note to self, don't do that kind of stuff on a Friday). But things just didn't seem to click into place. 1. Solus 3 wasn't offering the 2015 Summer Release, which I knew needed to be applied - resolved by running Solus 2 and updating. 2. Then post the Solus 2 update, each SIMS client reported the database was an incorrect version - oh, that old chestnut. 3. So I manually updated the clients using the old and trusted way. But Solus 3 still wasn't doing anything! The updates list just sits there, looking like this... It doesn't look/feel like it's working. What am I doing wrong? I've even resorted to the naughty method of emptying the 'Update repository' folder in the hope that it would repopulate the list, but I may have just added to my woes.
Ghostgame Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Have you let the your patch/release provider know that you have installed SOLUS3? They have to authorise the release to your school on a different system before you get patch/release's on SOLUS3. SOLUS3 disables SIMSLoad on each workstation with a SOLUS3 agent so SIMS/FMS does not check the Setups folder anymore.
Dkeen94 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Have you registered your site with capita through solus 3? Open up Solus 3 > Settings > My Site
mrwoberts Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Thank you for your reply Gg, that may well be where the problem is. I just assumed, since other schools have not shown this kind of behaviour, that the upgrade itself would be sufficient. I'll contact the school and ask them to contact their patch provider. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.
mrwoberts Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Have you registered your site with capita through solus 3? Open up Solus 3 > Settings > My Site Thank you. Yes, I put in the DfE number and postcode as usual and then provided a password. It brought up the address and it certainly looks registered.
SeanVin Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 We had exactly the same issue with FMS. Select 'Targets' then the 'Databases' tab. Your SIMS & FMS Databases should be listed, if not add them, if they are listed double check the settings. Our problem was that we had mis-typed the server name. If they are set up correctly if you select 'Agents' and the 'Targets' tab and find your SIMS server the current versions of your databases should be listed. If they are blank then the settings are incorrect.
Atomic_Zombie Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 2. Then post the Solus 2 update, each SIMS client reported the database was an incorrect version - oh, that old chestnut. Just so you know in the future, the SOLUS3 agent on the PCs stops SOLUS2 from working, meaning it won't automatically pick up updates from the setups folder. If you stop the 'Solus3 Agent Service' on each PC it will update the old way.

(Sorry, couldn't resist, its Friday after all - echo... echo... echo...)
