Hello.

My timetable has a query that we can't work out, so I'm wondering if anyone can advise.

Attached are the screenshots of a teacher. There's nothing confidential so I haven't blurred anything.

If you look at Week A, Monday session 4, on the Nova timetable you will see 9x/BBL where $CH and $JW staff are with her, and the class is in both rooms #A1A and #LRC.

The same session on SIMS only shows the class in LRC.

But in SIMS, if I select the session on her timetable, view the class, pick a student in the class, then view their timetable - they see BOTH classrooms.

Does anyone who knows Nova and SIMS have any suggestions? I'm assured that the timetable was 'thrown over' into SIMS from NovaT at 9am this morning (I don't know if that's the official term or just what we call it here).

I know SIMS pretty well, but I have never touched Nova.

Erm...

I've just asked her what she does.

In Nova, she exports curriculum and timetable to SQL, which asks for her SIMS user/password then takes her through a wizard.

That's all she's ever done; she has never touched the menu item "Tools > Acedemic Management > Apply Timetable" (which I know is there but I've never touched either).

Does this answer your question?

It does answer my question, in the negative!

From my limited experience, this is the first port of call whenever a timetable type query is passed to our county helpdesk.

Please excuse my ignorance, but she's been timetabling for 18 months or so now, and assisting with it before then. (The other lady who's done it for 20 years left in October)

If she's never used 'apply timetable' in that time, but the timetables have never been wrong, what does it do that is any different to what she currently does?

I'm not sure that applying the timetable will solve the problem, just that it's always the first thing I'm asked to look at if I ever ask our support team for help with a timetable issue.

Applying the timetable is something I've had to do at least once each academic year, it is part of the setting up of a new academic year. It aligns the periods of the timetable (from Nova) with the days of the week (from SIMS).

This is my experience, such that it is.

No worries - I know I applied it last week because we had a problem with there being no lessons to cover in Cover; we're still finding things that our colleague used to do, who left in October, that still need doing.
