I'm taking Online Self Learning Courses that have both Video and SWF Files. I would like to download the SWF Files for future reference. I have try both downloading an APP and try to find it in view source page. both have not work for me. I have also tried Developer Tools and have found the .swf file under network but have no idea how to save. PS I have been trying with chrome and firefox. If any one here know if they have been able to download please let me know. Thanks Natebc

You said you know this) Save as a .html file Open in browser Right click on link and select save target as Done

So I went to the page of the video opened Developer Tools and double clicked on story.swf that open the video on a new tab. I thin Copy and past the link to the note pad. I followed your steps but when I go to open the swf file I get this. "ERROR: Could not load the file 'L:\Class Room\Microsoft Project 2013\Lesson 4 Project Resources\Video\4.30_Quiz_content/data.swf'" Natebc
rrrrr Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 When you open the html file in your browser you created in notepad, it should be a blank page with just a hyperlink saying save swf. When you right click the text save swf you should have an option "save target as". Did you get this far? When you say you get an error when you open the swf, does this mean you managed to save it successfully? Is the original swf file you are trying to save on the internet or on an internal network share? The L:\ path you mentioned says to me internal share?

If so, what happens when you double click on the swf file you saved? Sorry, couldnt work out where the L:\ path is coming from or what program is giving the error message
bcnate Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 I was able to open the swf file from the Desktop but it come up as "ERROR: Could not load the file ERROR: Could not load the file 'C:\Users\Natebc\Desktop\story_content/data.swf'" Sorry the file was saved on my L: Drive before. I have saved a new file on my desktop. I'm using SWF File Player to try to open the files. Natebc
rrrrr Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 When you look at the file size of the swf you have saved, does it look ok? E.g. Not 0 or 1kb in size? Looking at the link you posted above it looks like you need to login to access the swf you are trying to save. This might be causing the issue. Try opening the swf from the original source in one tab (so you are authenticated to the orignal page) then open the html file you created in a 2nd tab of the same browser window and then do the save target as again. This should help if the login auth is stopping it

howartp Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I suspect (?) the .swf is a container that plays linked content stored on their server; when you play it on their website, it can access their internal network (story_content/data.swf) but when you save it an play it offline it can't find those files in the same relative location.
