caffrey Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 15 Pcs, all the same hardware same nic (intel) same PXE boot rom - totally identical. How come one of them is really slow to PXE boot ?, works okay if I stick another intel NIC in any ideas what can cause this ?

I think you've answered your own question here, sounds like a faulty NIC if you've replaced it with another one and it works OK.
caffrey Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 Weird thing was, after the OS installation and I removed the temporary NIC the machine was fine, it could join the domain etc. Anyway i'll put it down to a faulty nic.
Fazza Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 The PXE part is normally on a separate chip on the NIC so it will just be the PXE part that is faulty - that's why on some built-in NICs it's called an Option ROM in the BIOS as in the 'olden days' it was an optional extra and if you wanted PXE you had to purchase a ROM chip that you installed on/in to your NIC.
