Dos_Box Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I spent most of Saturday trying to fix Mrs Dos_box's laptop which suddenly couldn't send mail on Outlook 2010 via SMTP after upgrading to Win 10 on Thursday. I looked at everything and even removed her profile and re created it, all to no avail. It wasn't until later in the day a newly indexed solution came to light. All you have to do is run SFC /Scannow as an administrator. I also did this on my daughters laptop which was having problems with Minecraft. Both laptops reported problems and fixed them So, if you have some random problems on Win 10 machines I shuggest you try the SFC method first and potentially save yourself some time and effort! *Just done this on my work machine and it too reports errors and has fixed them. If you have a couple of mins please try this on any Win 10 machines you hvae nearby and report back what you find here, it would be interesting to see just how widespread this is.
minimoo Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I hit that issue when upgrading a few weeks ago - and the thread discussing it on microsoft's forum has 5 pages of replies @ Outlook issues following upgrade to Windows 10 Pro - Microsoft Community You'd think that part of the "upgrade" would be to "run" the equivalent of sfc /scannow - or well, I can imagine people have corruption pre-upgrade, but you'd think the upgrade process would fix any corrupt files 1

I didn't even come across that thread when looking around!
