BigG Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Sorry to dredge up an old thread, we are presently using MAK licensing with Server 2012 R2 and Win 7 clients. I am looking to test Windows 10 / Office 2016, however our volume licensing only has MAK licenses, no KMS. Can somebody please clarify which KMS licenses I will require when I phone Microsoft? I presume "Windows Srv 2012R2 DataCtr/Std KMS for Windows 10", but will I also need licenses for Office 2016 / anything for the Windows 7 clients?
Arthur Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I presume "Windows Srv 2012R2 DataCtr/Std KMS for Windows 10", but will I also need licenses for Office 2016 / anything for the Windows 7 clients? "Office 2016 Suites and Apps KMS" for Office. "Windows Srv 2012R2 DataCtr/Std KMS for Windows 10" will also activate older server and client OSs. 2
BigG Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Thanks Arthur, got the KMS keys from Microsoft. It's my first time setting up KMS, is the KMS host key the "Windows Srv 2012R2 DataCtr/Std KMS for Windows 10" one?
BKGarry Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 For anyone that comes across this thread later on, if you are putting in the 2016 LTSB version of win 10, even on the 2012r2 server you have to put in the Windows Srv 2016 DataCtr/Std KMS to activate it 1
