sammcleod99 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Hi Our new sims system is giving our users error 0 when logging in..? I tried sysman account but still no luck... I though I'd turn here for some info? Sam
Meldrew Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Error code 0 means that the client computer cannot contact the SIMS server, or specifically the SQL server running on your SIMS server. Assuming you are getting this on all clients, you may not have TCPIP enabled on the server instance. Try: pinging the server to check you can communicate with it. logging into SIMS on the server as it can use named pipes to connect instead (assuming that's enabled). checking that the connect.ini file in the SIMS directory in program files is correct for your server. HTH Meldrew. 1
sammcleod99 Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Hi Thanks for the quick reply I was able to ping the server and it responded fine. I'll try the other methods in a bit, but what do you mean by logging into sims on the server? Sam
AJWhite1970 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Error 0 is usually a missing or incorrect connect.ini that should be located in the same folder as pulsar.exe 1

AJWhite1970 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) Mine is as follows where SIMSSERVER= your windows sims server, SIMSDB= your SQL server and SIMS= your database on the SQL server [sIMSConnection] ServerName=SIMSSERVER\SIMSDB DatabaseName=SIMS commandtimeout=100000 Edited August 3, 2015 by AJWhite1970 1
sammcleod99 Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 We use a redirect to a drive with the connect.ini file in that users can access. The drive connect.ini looks the same / similar to that one Sam
AJWhite1970 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 AFAIK the connect.ini must be in the same folder as the SIMS client, not sure a redirect folder works (but happy to be proved wrong...) 1

sammcleod99 Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Still having problems. Changed the .ini file several times and still no hope
ZeroNeg Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 @Meldrew said about the server sql running. Check that its running / active, think its the tcpip because that is off as standard when you migrate the database. 1
Edu-IT Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Hi Thanks for the quick reply I was able to ping the server and it responded fine. I'll try the other methods in a bit, but what do you mean by logging into sims on the server? Sam If you open SIMS client on the actual SIMS server - as opposed to a computer - what happens?
sammcleod99 Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Well I am now having problems with logging in on the server... it is a clean install of sims that we may be moving to, and the database has all been set up. The only problem is that the default account for sims (sysman) is not working. How am I supposed to get in.. lol
matt40k Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Contact your support provider (Capita\LA\whoever you pay for support). Reason 0 just means it can't connect, it'll be better for them to remote in as it'll be a 5min thing rather then messing about going through all the possible fixes. 1
sammcleod99 Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 Thanks for all your help... will contact support Sam
