dblight Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Hum. So presumably those with the Desktop Education bundle are only getting Enterprise LTSB and Education (CB)? And on the assumption we don't mind the new features, controllable with WSUS etc., we should install Education. Unless I'm missing something? I think you are entitled to use either. But Microsoft would obviously prefer you to use Education.
Gongalong Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 More from the perspective re. updating (Enterprise) LTSB vs. (Education) CB. Or am I still confused? :-)
Gongalong Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 And anyone know why the 250 license limit? Presumably you can raise this if need be?
jertsy Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 And anyone know why the 250 license limit? Presumably you can raise this if need be? You can raise it, mine was 100 and I hit that. I called MS and they raised it to 200 and then 300 etc... 1
Arthur Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 And anyone know why the 250 license limit? Do you have 125 FTEs? 1
Gongalong Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Yes, something like that, but a lot more student PCs! I vaguely remember previous MAK codes being around 500, and often they had more than one.
DrCheese Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Got my keys now, just had to ring MS up. Download for Ent standard isn't showing but I've just used the technet iso for now.
Arthur Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Hum. So presumably those with the Desktop Education bundle are only getting Enterprise LTSB and Education (CB)? And on the assumption we don't mind the new features, controllable with WSUS etc., we should install Education. Unless I'm missing something? Wouldn't the sentence "Academic Institutions do not have rights to install Windows 10 Enterprise Current Branch for Business" imply that we can use Windows 10 Enterprise (CB & LTSB) or Windows 10 Education (CB)?
jertsy Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Has anyone got Enterprise ISO (CB version) to show up on VLSC yet? I have the key but no ISO. I have tried to download via technet but it the site seems to be playing up for me at present.
Trapper Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Seriously guys all the info I'm getting from my re-seller and a call to MS is that unless you choose the LTSB schools do not have the right under EES to use Windows 10 Enterprise. They have to use Education. At the end of the day instead of going round in circles I'd suggest you all email your re-sellers and get their advice in writing and stick to what they say. If you do end up with a BSA audit and you use 10 Enterprise, and they say you can't at least you have an email from your re-seller saying you can. Why would Microsoft release an Education SKU virtually the same as Enterprise and then let you use either? They know everyone would just choose Enterprise.
