Hi,

I dun a bad fing! I've thrown away the key to my home server - an HP Proliant MicroServer G7 N40L... I had a disk die, so I got it out from the cupboard under the stairs, the key dropped out of the lock onto the floor and I picked it up and threw it away, thinking it was from a child's toy. Ooops!

So - has anyone got one they could sell me? I understand that they are interchangeable between servers. I'm quite happy to pay something for one - it would just be nice to get one, rather than have to mess the server up by cutting or drilling...

Thanks for reading. I will try not to be so stupid in future!

I have a HP MicroServer N40L at home and one at school. You should have two keys that came with it. If you still can't find the other key I've found two paper clips can undo it pretty easy.

I did have 2 keys - they were on the same keyring that I threw away thinking they were from a child's toy. Idiot!

I've tried several sizes of screwdriver without much luck - I'll give the paperclips a go. Is it really as easy as push it in and wiggle? I've never tried lock picking. Still up for PayPal-ing someone some money if they want to post me a key, though!

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the tip - messing with a pair of paper clips I was able to open the lock without damage last night! I have now turned around the tab on the lock so the door can shut without locking :-)

Much appreciated.
