YouTube for Schools - How do you signup!?!

I created a test OU and test account. After I turned youtube on it just signed in no prompts for age or anything. I tried to upload content and it asked me to create a channel and how I wanted to be known on youtube. I didn't proceed from here so don't know if it will ask for g+ or not. I will turn it on for the High School and see how it goes.

YouTube for schools never worked with apps.

I'm standing with @dastrix on this one. We are an EBD School for KS3/4 boys and need everything locked down as tight as possible. That linked to the face the budget forces us to run a 32 bit standard Edition Windows Server 2008 that's to put it mildly 'pinched' for space, especially on the OS partition and therefore running Chromebooks or Google apps is out of the question currently has made us pretty reliant on YouTube for Schools. Our filtering is through SWGfL and they are exploring if there is any way round this issue.

 

Don't like it I'm all for letting students do what they want when at home they love watching videos etc

it runs 32bit and is a mere 23mb!

 

Anyway this is all beside the point - I think there is some real misconception about how this works. You can still restrict youtube by changing the DNS as described, all you can't do is allow staff to review and whitelist certain video for students the sites unless they are signed in. Your current content filter will allow you to prevent turning off safe search.

When accessing YouTube without being signed into the GAFE account the choice of videos is now much more restricted, but there are still some videos that I would expect to be blocked that are accessible. Is this expected behaviour when using restrict.youtube.com?

 

For example a quick search for Justin Bieber returns a YouTube playlist, clicking on that most videos show as restricted but 2 videos are still available.

Anyone aware of a way for Students to view the "Approved Videos" list? at present unless they know the link they cannot see them.
