Gatt Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Now he's looking at buggering up two systems in one fell swoop Prison education must improve, Michael Gove says - BBC News
CAM Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 He will say that one of the "biggest brakes on progress" in all prisons is the "lack of operational autonomy and genuine independence enjoyed by governors" - who are often set very tight criteria on how prison life should be managed. "Yet we know from other public services - from the success of foundation hospitals and academy schools - that operational freedom for good professionals drives innovation and improvement. So we should explore how to give governors greater freedom - and one of the areas ripest for innovation must be prison education." He loves his academies.

Gatt Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 [citation needed] Citiation on what, as to whether Gove is a Professional? He is a professional!! ...a professional idiot that is!
sonofsanta Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 (edited) Still my favourite Gove image: (edited to use a non-cropped version, just realised the original had lost bits from the sides) Edited July 17, 2015 by sonofsanta
Grey-gear Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Would educating inmates make them more employable? I'm not aware if there are a lot of jobs that would hire someone that has had a jail term, though I could be wrong.

GeekyPete Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Let's get rid of all the red tape (safeguards to you and me) That's got to be good we all hate red tape. Genuine independence now there's something the people can get behind that doesn't sound bad... It's not like he's saying that they'll be unaccountable to anyone at all. And when all that costly stuff is out of the way he can sell the prisons to his old school chums to run at a profit. Why is it only me that sees stuff like this?
