Projectors and Lights in parties

I recently attended a t party in a rented banquet hall in Vaughan ( www.lejardin.com/weddings-social-functions/events/ ) . They had some awesome looking lights and projectors everywhere. I was wondering how they control them. I asked one of the technicians there about it. He told me that they were partly hardware controlled and somewhere controlled using some softwares. They had some sort of projector mapping which was done according to the songs (Dubsteps). I just forgot ask them about the softwares. What softwares do you think they might have exactly used? How is it can be done? I’m just curious to know about it.

Mad Mapper, TroikaTronix Isadora, Resolume Arena...

 

Personally I use Isadora, which can control lighting via DMX / ArtNet with suitable USB to DMX hardware (Enttec), and output to as many projectors as you can connect to the machine (retina Macbook Pro = 3), and map each output via warped slices or a 3D mesh of the surface being projected on to (usually acquired via Kinect). Input feeds and effects are either handled directly in Isadora (Video, Image, FreeframeGL), or fed in via Syphon from other apps (such as Magic Music Visuals, Delicode Z-Vector), or are live feeds via Firewire / BlackMagic hardware.
