Some Office 365 questions

First off, What's the difference between these two:

Office 365 Education E1 for Students

Office 365 Education E1 for Faculty

and

Office 365 Education for Students

Office 365 Education for Faculty

 

The ones without E1 on mine say they have unlimited licenses, whereas the E1 says 1500 student and 150 staff, both appear to have tick boxes for the same options except that the one without E1 also has a tickbox for Exchange Online (Plan 1). The E1 for education also has "Mobile Device Management for Office 365 (Pending Activation)" which isn't stated on the other one.

 

This has me really confused as to why there's two of almost the same thing.

 

Secondly, Is there an easy way of assigning licenses to more than one page of users at a time? I only appear to be able to activate 20-25 users at a time which would take ages.

This is what i see under licenses:

Office 365 Education E1 for Faculty 150

Office 365 Education E1 for Students 1,500

Office 365 Education for Faculty unlimited

Office 365 Education for Students unlimited

Exchange Online Protection for Faculty 9,999

Exchange Online Protection for Student 9,999

 

I've no idea why EOP says 9999 either! Obviously it's all free at £0.00, so i presume it doesn't really matter and that i just need to make sure i assign the correct license out of the E1 and non E1?

from memory the top one is the free education license that covers online office 365 the bottom one covers most of that but allows users to install office 2013 on up to 5 devices

 

as to licenses if you have a nice field that says student/staff when you created your users then yes it can be done relatively easily with powershell. You can also export a user spreadsheet and do it with powershell. Personally I just decided by the time id worked that out I could of sat there and added them manually boring but it works

its just how the licensing works. MDM is mdm I havnt tried it yet I assume its something akin to a heavily cut down intune. Theres overlap between them so I just assign both
