Dos_Box Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 What's going to be the score with these once launch day arrives? I have an Asus Z87 Deluxe motherboard and so far there seems to be zero 'new' drivers available. Will it be like when the 7-8 upgrade came along and the older drivers - for the most part - happily got along with the new OS or will there be wailing and knashing of teeth when upgrades and installs fail for a lack of dedicated Win 10 critical drivers? Just want to get my bases covered
Michael Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I'd say there's a high probability the Windows 8.1 drivers will work absolutely fine with Windows 10. It would certainly do no harm to try!
Michael Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 The one thing I like about Windows 10 is you don't get bubble notifications if it's installing a driver in the notification area, doing it silently in the background instead. Windows 10 should have a good driver database, but it'll never cover everything. Hopefully it'll install most USB 3 chipsets by default, which are becoming more a common problem.
GuyJD Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 every Windows 8.1 driver I've tried so far has worked with Windows 10
MartinT Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Same here - everything that runs W8.1 so far has been successful with W10.
Patrick Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Apart from the UX changes and additional features (search, cortana, start menu..etc) is there any actual difference in the Core OS from windows 8.x? I think they are fundamentally the same underneath so i highly doubt there will be any driver issues.
MartinT Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I sense that there is even more optimisation for SSDs than before - the startup time with a Samsung 850 Evo is amazing. Otherwise, they got a lot right in W8.1.
