Disable DFS Link

I want to Disable a DFS replication between 2 Internal servers as we no longer need this.

Before i do this i just want to be sure it isn't going to screw anything up.

So if i just disable\delete the replicated folders this should just stop it between the 2 servers right?

You can do this in DFS management. If both are being published via a namespace (e.g. domain.com\share) I would first remove one of the replicated folders from the namespace without stopping replication (remove the server that you'll be retiring). This will allow the servers time to complete all replication, the newest files from both being the ones that remain on the server that you keep. Then, after a week or so, turn off replication.

 

If you don't do it this way, there's a small chance that you'll lose some files or file revisions.
