We have a BTNet 100Mbps circuit which also carries out SIP trunks for our Avaya IP Office telephone system, however, we are having issues, BT are blaming our firewall and our firewall support are blaming BT.

Has anyone had any issues with getting SIP trunks to register to BT's servers if so how did you resolve them?

Any help or advise would be very much appreciated!

PS Sorry if I have posted in the wrong section!

welcome to my world...what firewall do you have in place?

We're inclined to blame BT for port blocking as we're having major issues with our leased line and they've closed almost everything apart from port 80TCP and 443TCP/UDP...not impressed as we asked them to open everything and we'll handle the closures on our internal firewalls.

my issue is i've had 2 bt enginners on site who have bypassed the smoothwall proxy/firewall and it works fine so they are trying to blame it on the smoothwall

Considered setting up a DMZ switch and getting a Session Border Controller? Your internet connection would go into the switch, on one port would sit your Smoothwall and the other your SBC which would act as the firewall for the SIP trunk.
