Google Chrome Impero Add-On

We are trying to sort our filtering. (Using both Impero and SWGFL)

 

I've sorted out internet explorer add on problem. (wasn't automatically turning Impero add-on on so it wasn't filting it)

 

Now there using google chrome to access website we blocked via impero?

 

Is there a way impero can work with google chrome? (we need to use Google chrome for GCSE work so blocking chrome wont work)

The latest version of Impero should filter pages in Chrome for you [We are running v5.0.03 and we use it to help with our Chromebooks]

How are you running that? Its like its not running the web browser add on. (or kids are disabling it)

We do not allow students access to Chrome on the workstations. However I believe that Impero will block pages in Chrome since the new version came out. I will look into it for you but now I have to be elsewhere. Back to you later.

To block google chrome two options one is Impero Proxy but the recommended method is to use google chrome browser extensions. They are on chrome store but also our KB and manuals have info on how to deploy using GPO.

OK. I have logged on at a workstation where students have their Impero restrictions applied for Internet Explorer and experimented with Chrome. I have found that Chrome allows access to sites that I have blocked for Internet Explorer. Looking into this a bit deeper I have found the following Impero knowledge base article:

Comparing settings I have for Impero and Internet Explorer in Group Policy I see that I have configured: Do not allow users to enable or disable add-ons:

[There are some old IE8 settings in there too: I must clean those up]

 

I don't want to experiment with Group Policy on my small laptop screen from home. Perhaps this will give you the clue that you need to get your Impero working with Chrome? I hope so. I will try to make some time to look at this again tomorrow.

Ive found the info for chrome. I applied it all last night. Now today will be the test.
