Garacesh Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Or third! Truth be told I don't like civ-style games so I'd much prefer mechanics like that to be integrated into Fallout rather than just play civ
Arreks Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Was playing the Fallout iOS game and it's very addictive, surprisingly so!
flyinghaggis Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) So, it appears that Fallout 4 drops on November 10th, and has a Pip Boy app for phones, a new crafting system (allowing you to build structures), and a special edition which has a real pip boy attachment that you slot your phone into. Think I might bite the bullet and buy a pre-order! Not sure if I'll go spending £99.99 on the special edition though!! Now, normally I'd never even contemplate of buying the special collectors edition of any game, as they're always a complete rip off and waste of money, but I'm actually considering it for Fallout 4 given how much I love the franchise and how cool it would be to have a pip-boy model I'll hold fire for now and see what else the collectors edition comes with and whether there's any kind of DLC season pass option as I'm sure that, like Skyrim, there'll be extra content released throughout the life of the game. No mention of it in the photo below though... http://cdn4.dualshockers.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Fallout4_PIPBoy_Edition_ESRB_1434323636.jpg Edited June 15, 2015 by flyinghaggis
Garacesh Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I was very tempted to get the collector's edition until I found out the pip-boy is basically just a mount for a smartphone.. Ehh. Half-and-half about it now.
halbaradkenafin Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 But what size smartphone? The range of sizes makes it a bit tough to make one without some sort of expandable slot for it.
flyinghaggis Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) I've read articles suggesting that the pip-boy edition will be a GAME exclusive in the UK Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition is GAME exclusive in the UK | Games industry news | MCV That's pretty annoying as it probably negates any chance of getting it discounted from the RRP given they're the only supplier Pretty hard to justify now given on PC that will probably make it £60-70 more than the regular version and there's no mention of any season pass for expansions/DLC/etc. I love fallout but £70 for a metal box and plasic arm band is a step too far really! Looks like GAME are also bundling in a vault boy bobblehead and a t-shirt for the price too. Too steep for my liking. Edited June 16, 2015 by flyinghaggis
Arreks Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Didn't even notice the GAME exclusivity, guess I'll be getting the standard edition! I hate GAME.
flyinghaggis Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Didn't even notice the GAME exclusivity, guess I'll be getting the standard edition! I hate GAME. Likewise. If they offer it at a half decent pre-order price I'll probably just get it from steam rather than faffiing about with a physical copy. At least that way I can get it on the day of release as my postal deliveries have been pretty sketchy of late sometimes not arriving until the Monday after games have been released. Annoying if it's something you're keen on and want it to play over the weekend. Contemplating booking the day it's released off work to sit and play it ...... I was trying out Fallout Shelter but I think the UI is optimised for 16:9 so it looks wonky on my iPhone 4s. Plus it runs like a crock to the point it's unplayable. Might have to see if I can prise the missus away from Candy/Soda Crush so I can try it on the iPad Edited June 16, 2015 by flyinghaggis
Arreks Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm playing it on the iPad, there are definitely moments where it slows down to unplayable for a few seconds (when you're collecting a lot at once) but I think it will be like that on every mobile platform.
