Server 2008 r2 wont install on hyper v

Hello, I have just got some new servers, i am trying to set up 2008 r2 on hyper v but it just hangs. is this a known issue?

2012 r2 installs fine

Should be fine, you set it to Gen1 etc rather than Gen2? As might be UEFI/secureboot etc annoying it.

 

What's it freezing on?

Would query to why you're installing 08R2 on 12R2 though, unless you really need it to be that? aka migration of old server?

it was to run wds, i hear there is issues with 2012 r2 wds

Any issues in particular? Lots of schools using it fine, just needs patching a fair bit if it's new install

 

But yeah first thing I'd say is check what Generation/Boot settings you have it set at

are you booting from ISO or shared DVD?

check you have given it enough RAM

My first thought was startup ram might be too low. But it could be a gen2 problem

iso, given it 8 gig
