Trial of Office 365

Apologies for what could be a dull question,

 

I want to trial Office 365, but I want all my incoming e-mails to still come into my current e-mail system. I know I need to have my domain verified with a TXT and DNS owner. I believe this won't effect current incoming mail and it will still come into our current system? But if and when I want to switch, is it the DNS owner that controls this also?

You can trial office 365 without even registering your current domain - you will get an xxx.onmicrosoft.com domain, which you can use for 30 days or so.

 

Now when you want to 'purchase' (for free) your licenses (E1) you will need to add your school domain which would then involve adding the TXT in your DNS.

That won't effect mail delivery, and when/if you want to switch, its a case of changing the MX record (plus a a few more records) in your DNS.

@ellsandell is right.

 

After E1 purchase, why not buy another domain to test your DNS before messing with your current domain.

 

The DNS can be a pain in the @rse to sort out depending on your domain host !
