gmonks Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 As it says in the title. Word takes ages (2-5 mins) to open on some machines. Usually from files downloaded from the web. We have ESET antivirus which I have seen on the web as the cause of the problem for some people. However, when I disable it, it makes no difference. Thanks in advance!
Sagima Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I seem to remember word taking ages to open on computers which (for some reason) had no default printer - if it's only a few it might be that.

gmonks Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 BUMP. Still got this problem. I have installed the Office 2010 Validation Tool which was a suggestion elsewhere, that's made no difference.
dhicks Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Word takes ages (2-5 mins) to open on some machines. Usually from files downloaded from the web. Word takes ages to open by itself, or takes ages to open when you double-click on a particular Word file to launch Word and open the file? We had some older Word documents that referenced an old file server no longer is use, on opening Word would wait for a minute or two until it was sure the referenced file wasn't going to open. You web-downloaded files might be having the same issue - fixed references to resources that Word can't get to for some reason.
