Hi,

At our secondary we use Smoothwall and VLANs to give us transparent proxies mainly used for BYOD.

We have just installed a small ubiquity managed wireless system at a smaller primary we support. County who provide the internet feed require proxy (anonymous) details to be entered to browse the web. Just server and port.

I've tested today using wpad to deploy a proxy with DCHP only to learn that many android/ios mobile devices need additional setup on the device to get it working.

Is there a quick way that we can provide a transparent proxy setup for mobile users without the purchase of smoothwall or simular etc?

Thanks in advance.

No you can't I need to pick this up again as I need some to do exactly the same thing - I was looking at squid on a Ubuntu server box.

Use A pfsense box and plug the ubiquity points into a port on the pfsense box setup with Squid proxy.

Many on here will have done this.

Thanks for the replies, not heard of pfsense before. some googling brings me to mini hardware and some to an open source firewall? would you please mind elaborating? I was after zero cost if possible and have hardware that could install Squid on? Thanks again
