Apple DEP and Meraki HELP!!

I'm in need of advice. I've got 6 test iPads, they show up in Meraki's dashboard just fine but in DEP only one shows up. I got that one to have the green cloud of success and the management profile can't be removed by students but for the life of me I can't figure out why the other iPads are not showing up on the DEP page. The tags are identical. Please Wizard(s) of Meraki/ Apple DEP throw me a bone.

If devices are not appearing in your DEP portal there must be submission error, Apple should email your DEP Apple ID with the details of this?

Thank you for your reply. What throws me off is that the one iPad is performing as advertised and at one time I had 2 in DEP. Here's the rub. I'm hired on a temp basis and not privy to the 'magic numbers'. The boss seems positive that he did things right on the Apple end. He may be dragging his feet to keep me retained but I'd sure like to know that it's not my doing.

As far as I know. Definitely for the school district and within 2 years.

All purchased direct from Apple right? I'm looking for the verbiage but all devices need to be purchased from Apple in a couple of methods to be able to participate

Now that I think about it, I had a very similar issue. Check with your boss, make sure you are using any and all Apple customer numbers. We have 3 Apple customer numbers, 1 was a little older, but when I left that out of DEP, I realized we were short about 50 iPads

I was thinking the same thing as tommy, all DEP devices need to be purchased from apple directly under the correct sold to account. I don't even think you can use different "sold to" accounts in the same DEP environment. Please correct me if I am wrong

Devices are added by order number, my orders have spanned 3 different Apple account numbers.

good to know. I'm stuck using VPP as the powers above refuse to complete the DEP application process.

It was my boss's fault. In haste to renew another MDM acct. he used someone else's numbers while I was playing with Meraki. Hence the one lone working unit. Now that it's resolved I have all green clouds. Now another couple questions: For some reason only a couple iPads downloaded the school apps and now that the settings are loaded I can't install the apps without removing the management. Is there an easy way to temporally 'turn off' Meraki? Is there a way to deploy a school logo/if found-contact... (wallpaper)?

I am understanding this correctly? We have 24 iPads all purchased 18 months ago from PC World. I have a VPP account, and use Meraki, does this mean because I bought the iPads from PC World rather than Apple we can't use the DEP and silently push apps to them?

All you can do is ask. It might be that PC world buy them off someone else. As long as they have A reseller ID you should be ok.

That is correct, plus Apple Resellers with a Reseller ID in the UK.

DEP and Silent managed distribution of apps are completely different things. You can set up managed distribution without being enrolled in DEP.

 

I'd say as PC World are a retailer its very unlikely that they will have a DEP Reseller ID so may stop you from using DEP

The DEP allows you to supervise your iPads over-the-air (no need to plug them in to a Mac), but you can still use Meraki to silently push apps without supervising your iPads. There are some restrictions that can't be turned on unless they're supervised. The DEP lets you pre-select some settings to speed up activating iPads when you first unbox them, and lets you make a Meraki profile mandatory and unremovable, which is useful.

Silent installation of apps via MDM requires Supervised iPads, either by enrolling via DEP or using Apple Configurator
