How dynamic should Meraki SM be?

How quickly should notifications be received by the client? We have been experiencing some long delays and wondered if this is normal

Meraki does not contact the device itself. Notifications are sent to Apple then Apple PNS (Push Notification Service) pushes it to the devices (Apple does not want to give people device access so all notifications are controlled from them). Not sure why it would be slow sorry.

The message notifications simply don't work for us. I've never managed to click on a device and send it a message. I've tried via work internet and via home internet.

Thanks Soviet Russia - interesting that Meraki sends to Apple and then Apple forwards to the client, didn't know that.

 

Android devices always seem fairly instant so perhaps that's why ipads seem to take a while (and sometimes don't seem to receive notifications at all)

 

LocalzUK - We can get notifications to work but with variable success. Same applies with online or offline status - I assume there is some kind of timeout built into Meraki SM that that switches a device status to offline when it is unable to connect but it would be useful to know how long that is (as again, it seems to vary)
