Looking at Drive mapping for Office 365 for our users areas and our different SharePoint Sites. Looked at many and iamcloud has come to the top of the list now, it looks good and just about to finalise it with them to purchase. Looking at getting the Identity+ Package

Has anyone used them and can recommend them?

Looks intriguing and could cost me only around £60 per month.

Do they have a free trial? Or a demo? Have you seen it in action?

I'd be very interested to see how you get on with this.

Are you planning on migrating existing documents, both home drives and shared folders to office365?

Posted

Yeah, it looks for about £60 a month for what it looks to do is a good price.

We are planning on moving all staff and students existing documents to Office 365 (They choice, but we preferring them to) and Shared folders will be cloud based.

Haven't seen it in action yet, but sent off an email this afternoon asking if there is a demo/free trial to have a look with.

Will let you know how it all goes.

Curious how you guys mentioned £60? Showing up as £1.50 per user per month here, so even 500 users wouldn't that be £750 a month? Or am I being a spas :s

Or are you only looking at staff members etc?

Did they say whether the pricing would continue at the reduced rate each year? Just worried about it working really well and then the price doubling.

Ignore me :( Noticed I'm being dumb and didn't read the educational pricing part lol

Would be interested to here how anyones trials go though, as certainly seems an interesting idea. Curious to see how the backend links in regards to students mapping/usernames/passwords etc.

Thanks,

Steve

Anyone able to feedback on how their trial went? Did you buy into it?

When people say they are going to put the shared documents into the cloud is that into sharepoint? How much free space do you get there? Or linking them to user accounts to use the free 1tb? Cheers

Trial went very well and just bought into it and so far proving good.

Shared areas will be on share point on the sites etc. we are using the up to 1TB free but won't use it all and get an extra 500mb per user we sync and licence.

Are you moving all your users documents into it? If you are have you copied the documents over or are you asking them to? Can you get their network drive to sync through it to OneDrive?

Just worried if we put everything on it that if the internet connection died you lose your whole network.

Cheers

We are giving the option to use both local and OneDrive and their responsibility on where they store their files (set up a quota.on local profiles), we looked at that if the internet dies and invested in a backup 20mb line for £400ish a year.

Been using this for 2 months now, so far very good, few problems we had/have are with the following

Photos, so we have given students taking photography a small area to work with if they run out they need to move it to there Onedrive

Mail merge, we had few students try and do a mail merge the other day, we are trying to figure out why this wont work at the moment and a fix.

Other than these two problems it seems to be running great, all students are saving and working from their Onedrive area mapped as a drive.

Can someone confirm if we need to be running ADFS for iamcloud to work? We run Dirsync only currently.

Is there any client that needs installing or does data have to sync up to iamcloud at all?

Posted

You do not need ADFS for the Identity+ to work, the user will just have to authenticate with their O365 account. We are only using DirSync and there is a local client to install on each machine which does the mapping side and you currently give them your mapping paths, drive letters etc. (panel coming soon).

Been using for a few weeks now and no issues :) - Rolled out to all staff so far.

So do you have to authenticate each time or once it's mapped it continues to work even if logging into different machines?

Recently tried out Iamcloud. the webdav was really slow and we're not sure what can be done about it..?

We had same issue and for us it seemed to be the "Automatically Detect Proxy Settings" in Internet options even though we don't have any proxy configured etc, once took the tick out it was instantly faster for us.

Base plan for schools is 6p/user/month so £30 per month for 500 users.

Although it isn't specifically mentioned, if you also buy the Advanced Plan (+3p/user/month) IAMCloud can integrate with SIMS.

Minimum purchase is now 1000 users so starts at £720 per annum.

The advance plan works out at an additional £360 per year.

Good point. I forgot to mention that. :)

1,000 users shouldn't be an issue for a lot of secondary schools, although if you have less £720 is still pretty cheap compared to what some educational software costs.
