Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection for Mac

Has anyone used or tested "Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection for Mac"?

 

I had no clue that forefront was available for Mac. Turns out it's available through Microsoft System Center for Windows, Linux and Mac.

We use it. It's a rebadged version of ESET NOD32 for Mac. It's a good AV system as far as I can see but there is no way to centrally manage it

We use the Mac and Linux agents at work and both seem to be doing fine.

As @Norphy said, the only downside is the lack of central management for it...

Doesn't System Center manage it? Thought that was the point

No, System Center's native Mac management facilities are very limited. Endpoint protection management is not something that it does.

 

SCCM can deploy it but can do nothing else. Because it's not a'real' Microsoft product, you can't even update it from WSUS, it has to update itself over an internet connection

Deploying Endpoint protection to a Mac using SCCM

That's simple enough. You have to create a cmmac package from the SCEP DMG file using CMAppUtil then create an Application from the CMMAC file. You then deploy it like you would any other application.

ESET Clone it certainly is! That was the first thing I noticed. The installer and the application itself are identical to ESET.

 

I've been leaning towards Bit Defender for our Mac Antivirus/Malware but found out on Friday that the college may have System Center Endpoint Protect for Mac with our Microsoft license so the college would rather go with Microsoft. So far not convinced that I like this application.
