Hi Guys,

I need to install Nova-T from our spring 2015 install; to set up on a Sat PC..

Do I have to go through my local LEA support to get this?

Or can I get it from my Sims Server?

Thanks

Si

On your SIMS server you should have an AdminData shared folder. In that folder under SIMS/Setups should be an install for NovaSatelliteSetup. You will also need a Licence file. I used the MLICENCE.DAT file found in SIMS/SNOVA/NT6 in the same AdminData share.

Our NovaSatelliteSetup.exe is stamped 07/04/2015 -- which is the date we did our Spring 2015 SIMS upgrade.

Edit: MLICENCE.DAT is stamped 2004.

Hmm, how come ours is 07/04/15? The file version number is 1.626.3.0 -- would you guys mind checking what yours is? I have an issue with NT6 on the DH's machine, so want to check all is OK!

Whaaaat... No idea then. If it helps, running NT6 network and NT6 satellite EXEs, in About, we get "Version 6.32, Build 6" - what about you?

Capita's version numbers make absolutely no sense whatsoever...

OK, not to worry then! It would just help a lot if they sorted their version numbers out!

And back to the original thread, hope @swiftysw1 gets his Nova Satellite sorted. Another thing to mention, it just reminded me doing it myself, when you install the NovaSatelliteSetup.exe it installs stuff to "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SATS\NOVA" - you then need NovaT6Setup.exe from that directory to actually install NT6 satellite.

or if you want to cheat and do it in an "unsupported" way -> grab nt6.exe, nt6.hlp/chm i.e. help file, tcres.dll and the mlicense.dat file from the S: nova folder on network -> basically it's 1 exe, 1 dll and the license that's required for the software to load.

Proper Method:

a) Grab spring cd image from support net links - RESOURCEID-1-2236 has url + password

b) extract zip and ISO in 7-zip or similar - there's a NovaSatelitte.exe in the setups folder of the ISO

c) On a 64BIT pc, this will install files to C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SATS by default.

d) In C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SATS\NOVA there is then a novat6 setup.exe.

e) This will install to c:\snova by default. The NT6.exe will be at C:\SNOVA\NOVAT.

f) If you run this, it will show a browse for license file and ask for the MLICENCE.DAT

At this point, you get open implementation window - and can choose load other file - or copy your timetable files into c:\snova\nt6\ so you can use the load local data set option.

OR

My 'Cheat' method:

Grab nt6.exe, tcres.dll, NovaT6.pdf (if you want) and nova-t6.chm (if you want help to work) from your work PC and the C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net folder.

In terms of finding license files and existing timetable files, we have a drive S: mapped to sims that contains the mlicense.dat and all our implementations, which lives at S:\SIMS\SNOVA\NT6 for us. Not sure if that's standard as that drive mapping has existed for us since <2000

Capita's version numbers make absolutely no sense whatsoever...

They seem to keep versions of FMS/SIMS same or at least similar, and bump the installers in a group but with a slightly different scheme. NT6 being an "older" module that got renamed seems to have a slightly different numbering scheme. If you look on the last page of their "SIMS Release Download Links and Product Information" document which i referred to in the other post, they've got a table of all the expected versions for the last year.
